The very first diamond made in the world from the umbilical cord of a baby, was made by our parent company - Phoenix Diamonds. Created from the cord of Jessica, a fragile life in the balance. Jessica was born January 27th 2008 and has grown into a lovely healthy baby.
The cord was donated following our plea to simply experiment - to see if it was actually possible to make a diamond at all using the carbon within a cord We chose a Blue diamond because the process is much more difficult - if it proved OK then the usual canary colour would be potentially easier.
We are still in the early stages, there are risks it could fail, but if you are wishing to consider 'celebrating' and offering the cord, we need you to secure it, deep-freeze it as soon as possible and allow for collection by special courier. We will then start the treatment and the whole manufacturing process - which could take 15+ weeks.
The costs will be in the region of £5500 to £7750. The size attainable is likely to be around 1/2 (0.5) carat in weight and the colour range between Aqua Blue, Topaz Blue and Sapphire Blue.
If you feel it is necessary, the diamond can be lasered and certified by the Birmingham Assay Office (AnchorCert) at an extra non-profit charge and adding approximately 2 weeks to delivery.

Diamonds made from hair
Our first canary coloured 'hair' diamond was made a few years ago, from 35-40 grams of beard trimmings. It took some time to collect the amount estimated to be needed and we weren't sure of the size of diamond we could attain.
